Winter Boost - Fresh Juice

Eating seasonally often provides you with the vitamins and minerals that you need for the season, so as Persimmon happens to be one of my favourites, I thought that I would share my favourite ways to use them - other than just eating them whole!!

Persimmons are very seasonal - end of Autumn beginning of winter they sit on the tree long after the leaves are gone!!  Quite sweet in flavour, not unlike a honeydew melon, they make a really delish smoothie addition.

Markets start to have them at much cheaper prices about now....

 

This is simply 2 (whole washed) Persimmon blended with a slice or two of both fresh ginger and turmeric (used powdered turmeric if you want, but always fresh ginger).  You may peel them if you prefer - but a lot of the goodness and fibre is in the skin.
